Andrew Tonkin prides himself on being approachable and personable – two qualities which allow him to establish an instant connection with his clients and ultimately help them secure the ideal finance outcome.
“It’s important to be able to establish a trustworthy relationship with a client because financing a home or investment property can be daunting and stressful,” Andrew explains. “Clients must work with a broker they can rely on.”
Andrew strives to keep his clients informed every step of the way and is always available to them to answer their queries and concerns.
“Importantly, too, I think the most critical part of arranging a loan for people is to listen to what they want rather than tell them what I think they need – when you get that right, it makes for a great experience all round.”
With 25 years’ experience in the banking, finance and broking industry, his list of clients, who regularly seek his expertise, speaks for itself.
“It’s a career highlight to be able to say that I have built a business from scratch that now supports more than 250 people with their lending needs,” he says.
“If I do my job properly my existing clients will continue to support me and recommend their friends and family – and that’s the biggest compliment anyone can pay me.”
Andrew became a mortgage broker in 2004, and prior to that he worked with ANZ for 18 years before spending a year managing a credit union.
While most of Andrew’s work is conducted in Adelaide’s southern suburbs, where he lives, he offers a mobile service throughout the metropolitan area.
