The PropTrack Home Price Index for June 2024^ reports that Brisbane has pushed Canberra out of second place for housing values. The Queensland capital is now the second-most expensive capital, with a median home value of $840,000 (compared to $836,000 in Canberra).
As one of Australia’s strongest performing markets over the past year, home prices in Brisbane are currently 14.14% above June 2023 levels, and 19.96% above their December 2022 low.
Prices rose a further 0.50% in June, although the pace of growth is slowing compared to earlier in the year.
In regional Queensland, home values rose 0.24% in June taking the median home value to $682,000. Annual price growth across the state’s regions is sitting at 10.84%.
