New land to hit Darwin property market

Palmerston is getting 400 new homes with construction starting on a new residential development in Durack.

The Heights in Durack, spearheaded by national developer Urbex, will feature seven stages with more than 400 residential blocks in total by 2032.

An eight-month civil construction program has began at the site with land sales forecasted for early 2025.

The $127m estate is being built off Roystonea Ave and adjoins a 350-lot estate completed in Durack between 2012 and 2017.

Urbex general manager, Peter Sherrie, said Urbex would deliver a masterplan that integrated seamlessly with the existing residential development, addressing the key requirements of the market.

“As expected from Urbex, we prioritise open space, landscaped parklands and playgrounds throughout the development,” he said.

“This commitment fosters a sense of place and strengthens social community connections.”

Urbex NT project director, Kassi Picken said The Heights would offer a diversity of lot sizes to suit different demographics and the changing needs of modern-day buyers.

“It will feature a housing design that truly reflects the essence of traditional Territory modern tropical living, incorporating character and charm to resonate with our local community,” she said

“We are dedicated to retaining existing urban and environmental aesthetics of the site only enhanced by key urban design principles, environmental and landscape benefits.”

Ms Picken said the first phase of civil construction would focus on significant infrastructure development, laying the groundwork to seamlessly blend residential living with recreational community hubs.

The Heights is close to shops, dining, schools, entertainment and recreation activities.

The new development marks Urbex’s third residential community project in the Territory since 2010, following joint ventures with the NT Government at Johnston Ridge and Zuccoli Village in Palmerston.
