Aussie Expat Property Loans | Mortgage Broker based in Perth, WA

The Australian property market offers a stable investment for many Aussies, including expats living overseas. As a past expat and now a successful Mortgage Broker based in Western Australia, I help other expats understand their options when it comes to investing and refinancing their Australian property.

Your Expat Property Finance Expert - David Jamieson

For over 20 years, I worked in Asia and the Middle East managing 5-star branded hotels. While over there, I purchased Australian property and saw how difficult it was to find someone who would act proactively on my behalf. I've been there and it's why as a Mortgage Broker, I'm passionate about helping Aussie expats buy or refinance their own property in Australia.

  • Personalised advice: No matter where you're buying from, you are still entitled to personalised advice that is focused on what you want to achieve. My advice is tailored to your goal and your finances, no matter how complex they might be.
  • 35+ lenders: I have access to 35+ lenders and create a shortlist of finance options for you to choose from. I work to find a finance solution that will support your next goal with the right rate, features and structure.
  • Local legwork: Sometimes, it's just easier if there is someone there in person to act on your behalf. I will be your trusted adviser and do the local legwork required to get you settled into the right loan.
  • My expat loan service is free: Mortgage Brokers in Australia are paid by the lender, not the client. That means you can access experienced advice about your next loan or refinance at no cost.

Our Loan Calculators

How much can I borrow as an expat?

Expact borrowers with PAYG income can usually borrow up to 90% of the property value. Lenders will likely require a 10% deposit plus some additional funds to cover the costs of buying property. But this can often be on a case-by-case basis, depending on your employment type and sometimes your visa type.

How do Australian banks treat foreign income?

Most lenders only accept a certain percentage of your foreign income, as this protects the lender against fluctuations in the currency exchange. Australian lenders accept most major world currencies, as well as some others, but depending on the currency some restrictions like lower Loan-to-Value ratios may apply.

The important thing to remember when applying for an expat loan is that policies will vary significantly from lender to lender. That's why it's so valuable to have access to a wide range of lenders so that we can pinpoint which one will suit your unique circumstances.

Can I refinance my loan as an expat?

Yes, you can! As your Aussie Expat Home Loan expert, I can also help you review and refinance your home loan - especially if you haven't reviewed it for a few years. The Australian finance and property markets move quickly, so it's valuable to have your loan reviewed regularly. Get in touch with me to book a free review of your home loan!
